Nintendo has been making handheld games for nearly 30 years. It produces portable consoles for 20 years. It is the story of how evolved from the original Game Boy to DSI.

Nintendo has begun to manufacture a single handheld electronic game as a game and watches 1980. 9 years later, they released the first truly portable console.

The Game Boy was released in 1989 and was a huge success. Its screen can show only four shades of gray and no other colors, which seemed a bit disappointing as the handheld consoles released within a year by Atari and Sega had full color displays. Nevertheless, it remains feature some classic games, including Tetris legend that gave the Game Boy, its first major success. In the end, it was the quality of games for Game Boy that kept ahead of its competitors.

After 7 years, as with all game consoles, Game Boy seemed to have had its day in the sun and was ready to be hidden with all the other old toys the attic. Then, a new phenomenon revived the Middle console died. At a time when most publishers have evolved from a console, the Game Boy surprised everyone by releasing the biggest selling game in history. It was none other than Pokemon.

Unlike systems of current games that are variations available at launch and updated every few years, it took 6 years for Nintendo to release a range of colors of Game Boy. The DS was just two years to be upgraded with the DS Lite and two for the CIO to be released. The Game Boy has taken 7 years to obtain a small shuffle of equipment that has reduced its size. This version was called the Game Boy Pocket.

After 6 years with no updates to the Game Boy console itself, Nintendo began releasing updates every year, as to make up for lost time. The Game Boy Light was released in 1998. It is around the same size as the Game Boy Pocket, but with backlit display.

The last update to the original Game Boy is the Game Boy Color. This was also the first time, some games have been released that does not work on older versions of the console and it increased processor speed and memory capacity. Of course, adds color to games too. Surprisingly, the color was even lower than last year 9 Old Game Gear.

The Game Boy was finally replaced in 2001 with the Game Boy Advance. A completely new, up-to-date on the console is finally Features color and was able to play SNES quality games, while the previous Game Boys have been unable to perform the same NES games the standard games.

The Game Boy Advance featuring a design shaped shell as it is now used in the DS and the DSi. It incorporated a backlit display.

The final variation of the Game Boy Advance (actually released slightly after the DS in 2005) was the Game Boy Micro. This is even the smallest console laptop ever published. Its dimensions and design were inspired by the control panel on SEN with a high resolution screen in the middle. From this point on Nintendo seemed to be very nostalgic, basing its Wii controller on the NES controller and also the DS design is based on the play and Watch Systems.

In 2004, Nintendo has revolutionized the portable console again. Rather than designing a console with a high-end processor, the Nintendo DS are intended to creative use of other technologies that had come a long way in recent years, namely the touch screen and voice recognition. Of course, He also made use of both screens. The greatest success of the DS is the second best selling game in history, Nintendogs.

The DS Lite released 2006 was an upgrade mostly cosmetic, reducing the size and give the console more refined design and improved screen.

The Black DSi Released in 2009, for the first time include an embedded camera (there was a camera of very poor quality Accessory for Game Boy original). It is still slightly smaller than the DS Lite and includes a music player with sound quality and size screen.

Most consoles seem to have a lifespan of about 5 years, so a whole new generation of Nintendo handheld would be expected around 2009. However, the original Game Boy (and its variants) has doubled the shelf life and not expect Nintendo to move away the wave of success they currently ride. For this reason, the fourth generation of Nintendo handheld console perhaps as far back as 2014.

About the Author:

Nintendo’s black DSi will be released next year. It is the next handheld console to be released by Nintendo and it will be available in the UK in Spring 2009. The black DSi has everything the DS Lite has (apart from backward compatibility with Game Boy Advance cartridges) but adds a host of DSi exclusive features. The main feature is the two digital cameras which can be used as a new way to interact with games. The DSi can also be used as a portable music player
